About Toby

Toby graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology. She began her career at Easter Seals in Manchester, New Hampshire, as a staff member but sought a different clinical setting with more responsibility. She worked next as Director and Head Clinician at Lynn Hospital in Lynn, Massachusetts where she directed/treated patients of all ages in both inpatient and outpatient settings. After moving to New Hampshire, she worked at Memorial Hospital in Nashua for several years while she began raising her children. Soon, she decided to start a private practice in her hometown of Bedford, New Hampshire, allowing her more time with her own children and the freedom and creativity she craved with her private patients. She soon had a full-time practice evaluating and treating both children and adult patients.

Over the years, Toby has worked part-time for several school systems, nursing agencies, and The American Cancer Society. She developed specialties in voice disorders, myofunctional disorders, autism, early childhood speech and language challenges, and social/pragmatic disorders, and delivered one of the most effective “r” sound programs in the area. Fifteen years ago, she established HorseTalk Hippotherapy which uses the horse's motion to influence the behavior, body orientation, breathing and core balance, leading to dramatic successes in speech/language as well as personal well-being.

Toby is best known for her warm and welcoming personality, her dedication to all aspects of patient care, and her relentless determination to investigate and address each challenge. She is outstanding with patients of all ages but enjoys a special rapport with smaller children and with those who need encouragement and confidence boosting. Toby returns calls and emails promptly, letting patients know that they are her priority.

In September of 2017, a move to Pittsboro, North Carolina brought Toby, her husband, Rohn, her two dogs, and three horses to the south. However, Toby is still available to provide services to Massachusetts and New Hampshire residents via telepractice, as well as Virginia starting in 2020.
